Linalool

Linalool is widely produced in nature and it follows that it's a natural constituent of many essential oils. It's also used on its own in perfumery, an it follows that is very useful for creating a natural backdrop, especially when adding realism to foliage, floral and fruity accords. It can be used in its own right as a top-mid note in a similar fashion to Bergamot. I find it very useful for "creating space" within perfume compositions. To me, on its own, it smells of soft fuzzy foliage and reminds me of a sun-dappled forest floor (Sam Macer - Perfumer at The Fragrance Foundry).
